Villa Schinosa’s Primitivo Rosso Puglia IGP is a jewel of Apulian viticulture, telling the story of a grape variety rooted in the centuries and renowned for its early ripening. Present in Apulian vineyards since the 18th century, Primitivo, the twin of Californian and Australian Zinfandel, embodies the power and intensity of Southern Italy.
With a harvest that captures the essence of the late summer, this wine is developed through careful maceration and a fermentation that emphasizes its rich notes of black berry fruits and spicy accents. Maturation in Slavonian oak barrels and refinement in the bottle polish its structure, giving the Primitivo a soft, harmonious, and complex body.
Its violet-red color preludes an enveloping tasting experience, ideal for accompanying intense dishes such as red meats, game, and aged cheeses, revealing a world of deep and persistent sensations each time. Served at a temperature of 18°C (64°F), after being opened a little while in advance, Villa Schinosa’s Primitivo reveals itself in all its magnificent expression.

Trained using a trellis system with spurred cordon on rich, clayey, and tending-to-calcareous soils with a density of 4500 plants per hectare.
The harvest takes place between the end of August and the first two weeks of September. Maceration lasts 8-10 days with frequent pump-overs for oxygenation and at constant fermentation temperatures.
After several months in glazed concrete tanks, the wine matures in 35 hL Slavonian oak barrels. Refinement in the bottle for a period of 3 months before commercialization.
